Today is an auspicious day!The morning call to Amma to wish her,HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY on this second Sunday Of May,made me feel so happy and blessed!

                                It is the time of the year Mothers are honoured and respected.Mother's Day is celebrated every second Sunday of May.Mothers have dreams along with Fathers and they struggle to make the dreams come true for their children.I have dedicated a post on Mother's Day last year to my beloved Amma!So,this post is to all the Mothers!Mother is the greatest gift that God has granted us in our lives!They always touch our hearts by their kind and caring ways!

My Parents taught me to dream higher
And taught me to reach the dreams!
After reading my profle,many of my friends had asked me about my Amma's five books that are published.Amma is a retired high school teacher and was teaching English and Social Studies in 10th std.The famous poets have taught my parents in collge and the foundation in Engish and Malayalam is very strong.Whatever we five children are in life today is due to the proper guidance,love and right direction given by our loving parents.I can not tell you how much my Amma means to me.Today I am posting one of the poems written by Amma from her second book,Smarananjali[In Remembrancededicated to my loving Achan  [Father].

The Love Of A Mother

The pride of a man breaks down,

Sick and despondent when he is!

And pathetically pinned on a weary bed.

Then,ah!what a consolation he gets

When appears his loving mother beside him.

The divine soul that looked after him,

From childhood and brought him up,

Administering to his helplessness.

Vividly he sees the enduring tenderness
In the love of a Mother to her son,

A love that transcends all other
Affections of the heart!
His selfishness,the ingratitude

And all other unworthy deceitful attitudes,
Cannot chill,weaken or reduce
Her affection to her beloved son.

Ready she is to sacrifice every comfort

For the enjoyment of her son;

Every pleasure she will reject

Willingly for the sake of his happiness!

How ecstatic she is in his fame and prosperity!
When misfortune befalls him

Dearer he is to his mother!
If disgrace settles upon him

She will still cherish and love him.

If all the world castshim off,

Oh!can anyone measure the depth

Of the mother's love to her son?
 

Can we feel the beauty,sanctityAnd solemnity of this inborn love?

How indebted a son is to her mother-

A debt that he can never clear in his life!

Amma has dedicated this poem to all the children who forget their parents while enjoying their busy lives and who do not have time to take care of them.

Parents are our priceless blessings.Please keep this in mind.You will be blessed!

My beloved Amma who is so pious has written this shloka praising Lord Shree Rama!

 

The birth of Lord Sree Rama is celebrated as Sree Rama Navami,today on 1st April,2012. .The ninth day of Chaitra month celebrates Sree Rama Navami,the last day day of Vasantha Navaratri.Lord Rama is considered as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu,who is known for his compassion for human beings.Sree Rama is born to King Dasaratha and Queen Kausalya of Ayodhya.The festival falls in the Shukla Paksha on the Navami,ninth day of the Chaitra month of Hindu Calendar.Thus it is also known as Chiatra Shukla Paksha Navami and marks the end of nine-day Chiatra Navratri celebartions.

 

 

 

                                  At some places,the festival lasts the whole nine days of N avratras,thus the period is called,'Sree Rama Navaratra'.It is marked by continuous recitals,Akhand Paath,mostly of the Ramacharitamanas,organised several days before to culminate on this day,with elaborate bhajan,keertan and distribution of prasad after pooja and aarti.Images of infant Lord Sree Rama are placed in cradles and rocked by the devotees.Sree Rama is teh seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.Sree Rama was born at noon.Temples and family shrines are well decorated and traditional prayers are chanted by teh family members together in the morning.Special havans are organised in temples along with Vedic chanting of Vedic Mantras and offerings of fruits and flowers.Many followers mark this day by vrata[fasting] through the day followed by the feasting in the evening.In South India,the day is also celebrated as the wedding anniversary of Sree Rama and Sita Devi.SitaRama Kalyanam,the ceremonial wedding ceremony of the celestial couple is celebrated in temples throughout the region with great fanfare and accompanied by group chanting of name of Lord Sree Rama[Rama Nama Smaranam].

 

 

      The important celebrations on this day take place at Ayodhya [Uttar Pradesh], Bhadrachalam [Andhra Pradesh ] and Rameshwaram [Chennai],thronged by thousands of devotees .Rathayathra,the chariot processions also known as Sobha Yatra of Sree Rama,Sita,Lakshamana and Hanuman will be taken out at several places incuding thousands of people take a dip in the sacred river Sarayu.

                Right from childhood I used to listen to the stories ofRamayana,the great epic of Hindus. I am sure, you all will be fondly remember the much popular television serial Ramayana which made people glued to the screen so religiously.It narrated the story of Sree Rama,his consort SIta,his strong and sincere devotee Hanuman and his loyal brother Lakshman.Sree RaRama played all his roles-that of a son,a student,a desciple,a husband,a brother to utmost perfection.Praying to Lord Sree Rama invokes the divine energies to all our relationships.Devotees celebrate this festival with great pleasure and enthusiasm.We always used to enjoy the comic books on Sree Rama.

 

'Ra-ma' is an unparallel name which attracts wealth and protects us from all evils.Even the mighty Lord Shiva told his consort,Parvati taht the easiest way to attain the highest in spiritua;l and material is by praying to Lord Sree Rama and chanting his name.Lord Shiva went to the extent of saying that this is equivalent to even chanting the sacred Vishnu Sahasranama.Rama is referred to as Maryada Purushotama,The Perfect Man or Lord Of Self Control or Lord Of Virtue.Rama is the huband of Sita, whom Hindus consider to be an avatar of Lakshmi and the embodiment of complete womanhood.Rama's younger brothers namely Lakshma,Shatrughna and Bharata strongly complement his piety,virtue and strength.According to legend,Kusha and Lava are the twin sons of Lord Rama and Sita.

People prepare a sweet drink called panakam with jaggery and pepper.procession takes place in the eveings.This is an auspicious day!My friend Asha is fasting for nine days having only fruits and sago. So many other colleagues are also fasting. We have a Sree Rama Temple near Sree Ayyappa Temple and  the temples are located near my office. Today is a holiday due to Sree Rama Navami.

The temple will be crowded and the chanting of Rama........Rama will be going on........

Remember the most important muhoort is at noon by 12.30 . Sree Rama Swami is born on Punartham Star. Nanda's star is also Punartham.

During summer vacation,my parents used to take us on pilgrimage. to different temples.I enjoy those memories.Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple is very famous.Amma has written devotional poems on Lord Sree Rama and we chant them.

Pealing of church bells reverberated all over the State as the Catholic Community joyfully participated in Easter Vigil Services to commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion .

Easter is the most important Christian Festival of the year,celebrates Jesu's Resurrection. The Gospels say that two days after Jesus's death,His Tomb was found empty. Soon,Jesus's followers began to see and walk with Him. Christians believe Jesus's Resurrection means that they too can receive new life after death. This is the belief that EASTER celebrates. They say that by His Death and Resurrection Jesus rescued them from eternal death and punishment for their sins.

 

 

Spring is in the air and with it comes Easter Sunday!

Easter marks the end of forty days of lenten sacrifice.It is the best Sunday for the christians as it is a celebration of new life.Easter,the feast of the resurrection of Jesus gives mankind confident hope for the future.The bottom line is the promise it holds that all humans will be raised from death and will live an eternal life.Jesu's resurrection is seen as the vindication of all that eh saidand the ultimate sign of victory over sin and death.It is the victory of truth.In the end,Jesu's resurrection not only reiterates the Good News he proclaimed but establishes that he himself was the Good News.

Christians make elaborate preparations to celebrate Easter which is teh oldest of all Christian festivals.The festival marks the transition from night to day and from death to life.It symbolises new beginnings and joy of the harvest season.

On Good Friday,Jesus Christ was executed by crucifixion.His body was removed from the cross and buried in acave near Mount Cavalry,just outoutside Jeruselam.On Sunday morning,the tomb was found empty neither the enemies nor the friends of Jesus could find his body.Resurrection became a reality when Jesus was sighted in several public places at different times,with his living body for people tos ee and touch.People therefore accepted,Jesus as the true Son of God and believed in His Resurrection.

Ushered in after the forty day austere and penitential season of Lent,the festival marked with midnight church service followed by solemn Eucharistic celebrations.Pascal commemoration in many parishes is marked with candle light processions and baptism of new born children.The devotees are seen busy thronging local markets for purchasing sweets and other goods for the prayers.

 

 

Since the resurrection of Jesus about 2000 years ago,Easter continues to bring hope to humanity and even today to our broken world that is continuously threatened by vilolence,inequality,injustice,terrorism and instability.The hope of eternal life as promised byEaster exposesall theories of fear,evil,destruction and death.

Easter brings joy and areason to celebrate.Easter gives areason to live,a reason to repent and to transform.Easter gives a reason to believe in common brotherhood,common humanity and in one God.

There is no greater truth than the Resurrection of Christ which continues to inspire and enlighten.And to the one who discovers the truth,as Jesus himself would say,,''The truth will set you free''.

Our days are cramped with our own needs and ambitions.there is neither the time or nor the inclination to look beyond our selfish restraints.Who wants to see the pain and feel for the downtrodden?

 

Easter marks the end of the period of lent,and the fast is broken on this day.Before breaking the fast,Christians go to the church for the Holy Communion.After this,they greet each other,wishing each other,Happy Easter.The evening is set aside for get-togethers of family and friends and dinner is a large elaborate feast.The gifting of the chocolate crusted Easter Egg to children at home is a ritual that is widely followed.

There are several symbols associated with Christian Easter Sunday such as eggs,rabbits,chicks,lilies,sunrise service and new outfits.It is believed that Easter Eggs represent the beginning of life while rabbits and chicks represent the rebirth of Jesus Christ.Besides,Easter Lily[the white lily] is asymbol of the Resurrection Of Jesus Christ.The Easter Bunny has its origin in the pre Christian fertility lore.The hare and the rabbit were the most fertile animals known and they served as symbols of the new life during the spring season.The first edible Easter Bunnies were made in GERMANY DURING THE EARLY 1800Ss of pastrya nd sugar.

 

 

Most of the pastory shops sell Easter Eggs in different shapes and sizes with or without filling eggs which represent new life,have been adopted by the Christians as an Easter Symbol because of the relationship between Easter and renewal of life. On Maundy Thursday the pastry shops make hot cross buns which are available till Good Friday .These buns have a cross on top of them.

There will be Traditional Easter Dance at Wild Orchid Majorda Beach from 7p.m onwards.The leading bands will be performing.

The Mandovi Riviera is holding an Egg Hunt .This is an event targeted at children aged 12 and below and is akin to treasure hunt for Eggs.

During this Easter season,let us all join together and ask the Risen Lord to bring joy and Peace to our lives!May the Risen Lord encourage us to speak boldly against injustice,corruption and destruction of man and nature.

it's rightly said,''well begun is half done''.The morning cool air,the spiritual feelings make one energetic n positive in thoughts.wonderous hours of happiness and pleasure,enjoyment and merry making enhance the high spirits of Christmas!

After the midnight mass,people are back,home to celebrate the grand festival,MERRY CHRISTMAS!The birthday of JESUS!We had received cake n crib yesterday from Rev.Sr.Modesta,Amm's student n friend.

 

 

 

 

Christmas is growing bigger every year.Christmas is at its best in this beautiful land.

Carols,cribs,candles,Santa,plum cakes,gifts and social gatherings and parties........

But right now I wish for peace and happiness

And to join you in decorating your Christmas trees

Organiszing the end of the year festivities ,

Thinking all of you at this time of Christmas,

I hope this Christmas

Comes to you joyously n happily,

with the rustle of angel's wings,

with the warmth of a candle's glow,

with the laughter of children,

A COOL DREAM ..........!

 

 

 

Here,wherever you go,you land up in the beach,the valley,the hills and the pubs.This state has the prettiest natural scenery.It's an excellent blend of sea, sand and surf, afavourite hunt for beach lovers.Warm golden sand, gleaming sea water and enchanting greenery make the beaches so attractive.This beautiful state has a unique blend of socio-eco culture.

One evening when I set off myself to the nearby beach and spent some time with the calm waves.Can you believe,just being with the nature,close to the water,enjoying the breeze,we change totally.The whole of peace is restored and the happiness spreads.I selected a deserted place as I didn't want to meet anyone and I settled down soon to watch the sunset.
That is the best time of self examination and introspection.There I could see,the laughter,the giggling of a lovely pair far away;but I could see and feel their pleasure .Did he remind me of soemone else?did I see myself in her?tThey were in their own world and I was with them! :)

 

    It was a beautiful evening,
the blue sea was calm,
the sea birds were making lots of noise,
and  I sat alone,hiding my gloomy heart.
suddenly I saw a lovely pair.
they were in their own world,
splashing water they walked ahead,
holding their hands tightly,
they were laughing and giggling,
sharing the sweet nothings.
so much of life I could feel,
while music was flowing from heart to heart,
I  wanted to listen to the mighty waves,
but I was carried away with them,
slowly his hands were holding her,
and she leaned to him and walked,
the waves were kissing their feet,
sitting alone I was watching,
how the love blooms in the sea shore.
I knew,they were full of hopes,
and  I did't want to tell them,
where there is light,must shadows be.

 

 

 

they were in their dreamworld,
nothing did they see behind or after them.
I recollected my joys and griefs,
the sun was going to set,
painting the waters orange n red,
gazing up to the sky,
the moon was smiling.
the wonderful couple whoever they were,
I wish them togetherness always.
as when you don't have anyone to look for,
in a crowd you become lonely.
dreams just they remained as dreams,
and at times the life is meaningless;
a few memories drawn from your life's spring,
It haunts you day  and  night.

 

the clouds started roaring above,
and it was going to rain,
I sat by the bank,disconsolate,alone,
and the showers started all of a sudden.
they were catching the rain water,
and they were throwing water on each other,
before,I left,I looked  at them again;
he was lifting her face with both his hands,
and hugging each other so tightly,

he planted a gentle kiss on her forehead,

caressing her idle trance,
forgetting the rain and thunder!
he must be telling her,
''I will not let you go....................!''

and you know,the love line often told!
I hope n pray that girl won't lose her love!
and to sit n cry on the golden memories.
partings are always painful,

but friends,i must say,

it's better to part the ways,

than to live with a broken heart!
when it rains,tears flood from my eyes,
and my heart sinks like an uprooted tree!
