HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WORD-AMMA

SREE GURUBYO NAMAHA!

I dedicate this post to the most wonderful person,my amma,to the other mother-chechie,to my little star who loves children and to sweet maza, the mother- to -be.
today is the special day for a mother as the world celebrates her existence in a grand way.
here, you can seemy amma and achan's wedding photo.
first i thought,i will not write a post on mother's day as amma doesn't believe in any special days or in any formalities.but i will feel guilty,if i won't pen down my thoughts.
amma is the most influential person in my life .whatever iam today in this life is due to the strong support and inspiration from my parents.
amma,i know words fail to express my love and gratitude to you.your mere presence brings back the spring in our lives.

we often forget to appreciate you, acknowledge your services and take you for granted.at the same time we pretend to forget our duties.
we fondly remember the sacrifices you have done, the hard work you have put in,the encouragement you have filled in our minds and the positive attitude you have spread, the soft strong words you have told built our lives.

amma, you are like acool breeze whom we long for!you still teach me how to be patient, how to be polite and how to speak softly.
amma is aretired high school teacher who was teaching english and social studies in one of the prestigious schools of guruvayoor.born before india won independence, amma had her schooling in l.p school, karayoor, kottappadi palli school, chavakkad govt.school.for higher studies amma was at calicut malabar christian college and at maharajas, ernakulam.achan was also in the same college.MY GOD!what an educational experience and what a strong base they had!even now we have to refer to dictionary to read amma's letters.achan and amma were lucky to learn under the able guidance of mahakavi g.shankara kuruppu.hasya samrat prof.sanjayan was teaching shakespeare to amma.amma used to explain the great unforgettable classes and we always had the feeling of sitting in the lecture hall.
we were aways looking forward to the summer vacations.achan made it a point that we have our regular tours to palani ,kodungallore, thriprayar, kadambuzha and guruvayoor temples!the childhood memories are evergreen.that experience was refreshing.we learned the basic lessons of life from our tours.

how can i forget the summer classes of amma in english grammar?the basic grammar for the forthcoming year was taught during vacation.the most difficult social studies was made interesting.iam proud to say that i stood first in social studies in s.s.l.c examination.i was on cloud nine!

amma always took interest in cocurricular activities.music is life for amma and for B.T music was her special subject.

amma was so happy when kishen joined for his classical music classes.but ,kishen could not continue.now she is really excited to know the new member to be ,mahesh is a good singer.and we assure you amma he is going to learn the sweetest songs as his princesses has the charming ways.interesting,na?

i am shaped to be a good speaker[from the public feed back],an anchor and a blooming writer from the early severe training. amma encouraged me to participate in recitations, elocutions, dance items and skits.i still remember the dance master who was arranged to come all the way from palghat to teach us the dance.amma was so happy when nanda and me did the alarippu in our school.
i dedicate all my appreciations and certificates i have won to you, amma.today i can stand on my own feet!when i got married at an early age, the ony condition amma put forward was,i should be allowed to complete my education!now i realise amma, nothing can stand for education!
right from childhood, you taught us the values of life, the strong beliefs, the culture and the traditions
from praying early morning to sun god till the sandhya vandanam.they shaped our lives!so,melodiously, you chant the bhajans!
i am grateful to GOD for having blessed us to be born to the most wonderful parents of the world.
we realised how strong amma is when we five children had to leave amma all alone after our dearest achan passed away to the heavenly abode.in that lonliness, amma never grumbled.she went creative and can you believe, amma's five books are published by now.even now,in this old age amma is writing poems.
today,we five children are settled well in our lives in different fields.amma's favourite quote is,''time and tide waits for none''.my mother, the most simple and humble person who is full of love, care and concern is the best gift we have received in our lives!
the memories are never ending.amma likes short posts.iam happy that now, iam with amma even though for a short period.it's the time to get recharged.

we will be able to live in a better society if the upbringing of young generation is in the right direction.

amma still scolds me for wasting time doing nothing, for a long nap in the after noons,
for spending long hours sitting at pc,for neglecting my health and for being so talkative.anu has to learn many more lessons.

amma balances my life with love and understanding.
amma taught in LSN convent ,ottappalam, christ king convent, pavaratty, little flower convent, mammiyoor and sree krishna school ,guruvayoor.

achan and amma always reached the needy to complete their education.i will not forget those kind gestures.and i continue that now in my life.i feel proud when iam asked,''are you chandrika teacher's daughter''?i still see the respect and love in their eyes when amma's students enquire about her.she is chandrika balachandra menon.

after the morning prayers, amma is reading the news paper, now.nanda has gone to guruvayoor temple.

before giving a talk, even now,i speak it out to amma over phone.i must get that ''yes''from my amma to proceed.she is the mantra of my success!
amma,i know,i have hurt you many times.i could not rise to your expectations.i have given you many embarassing moments.even if i take bath many times in river ganges,my sins will not be washed away.now, when the tears roll down my eyes,i want to wash your feet with them.please forgive me for everything that have caused the deep wounds in your heart. let me offer you a bouquet of flowers as you love them a lot!your valuable lessons are carried to the second generation now.you are a wonderful grandmother!

we feel secure in your presence!and just to experinece that i run and come to you whenever possible.
children can never repay for the selfless love, the true and sincere feelings of their parents. how can we forget the sleepless nights amma had,in upbringing us!whatever we do in return will be insufficient!
with alot of love, hugs and prayers,

it's my gift to the perfect mother.

it's anu signing off........
amma, millions of thanks for the cheer, sweet smile, inspiring words, confidence instilled and to top it all ,your heartfelt blessings!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAYTO ALL THE MOTHERS OF THE WORLD!

Elegant writing and a very touching post, worth reading again and again!!

Anu has written well abt mother - good. But Anu should realize that there is no special day for mother.Every day is special. It can be May 10, May 14 or any date. Its a day created by greetging card publishers for their monetary benifits.
Princess is sad that nothing is mentioned abt her.
Anu has metioned 'even if i take bath in river ganges many times, my sins will not be washed away' It is ok Anu, but i heard due to scarcity of water, sometimes you cant take bath even in bath room.
Anu has mentioned correctly mother is still teaching her how to be patient, how to be polite and how to speak softly but she forgot to mention that the only thing she couldnt do so far is the same. But mother, keep trying and wish u all success in that.
Guess hu has written comments that after reading, anyone would just want to get a glimpse of her... but 'The Eye' has written 'We no need to see your mother.. because we have seen already from your post..'Guess Hu' is thrilled in going to be a real mother soon to hear all these from others...Isn't it?
All the best Anu for the spirit you are showing in writing..

Anu, You have succeeded in tying me to your post to read it completely which is against my usual habit of ignoring longer posts. My mother was also a Teacher. Your ardent love of your Mum is clearly depicted all over the post. Thanks for sharing.
My outlook about mother's Day and the Commercial interests behind it is well written by Raj, so no need to expand further.
Anu a little advice:
Try to concise your post, which I think could attract more readers.
Hope you would'nt take it negative.
Thanks
(please remove word varification)

dear grameenam and sneha,
thanks for the good words.
my thoughts and words flow and i lose control.thus the posts become longer.
i will try to make it short.
forget the commercial side of the celebration;all over the world if not daily, atleast one day MOTHERS are honoured and thought about.
looking back, let's feel ashamed for doing the minimum to the GODDESS on earth!
have a good day!
sasneham,
anu

I SEE ANOTHER JOE IN YOU.. my teacher-mother, like any other mothers faced all odds with a smile ...although age has withered her ,she still wakes up at early hours of dawn and starts her routine work without any grievance..watching the way she has been working selflessly for family and relatives and her school ,taught me to manage time, care for people and also has molded me into a wonderful human..

Happy to read this special post of yours, Anu.. It not only conveyed your special thoughts about your Amma but also a lot about your family, its values etc.

I feel all mothers have a divine spark in them because they are capable of and demonstrate selfless love (which is something only God does).. Each one of us are blessed to have a mother and experience it for some duration in our lifetimes..

warm wishes
