Dear Friends,
           Good Evening!
        Showers and sunshine play hide and seek,making life really wonderful.Thank you so much for your wholehearted support for a noble mission of spreading a word against drugs,smoking and drinks.I could feel the sincerity in your words.Deep down inside everyone has the urge to fight against the vices.In each facet of my life, close and caring friends stand by me;that is a great relief and comfort.

It  was nice to go for a walk when it was drizzling.Enjoying the moist leaves swaying in the breeze,the water droplets falling on my head,I walked ahead.It  was so refreshing to mind and body..For the first time, I was going to pay the telephone bill in the post office.This location is so convenient ,having all the basic facilities within walkable distance.The post office is located in a room in the groundfloor.I sat on the chair and waited till someone else paid many bills together.Normally I  lose my patience very fast ,but the small mukooty pookal [the tiny yellow flowers that we use for making pookalam for Onam]at the entrance attracted my attention.I was so happy to see these little bright yellow flowers and they reminded of my childhood.:)
Exactly these little things change our moods and affect our mental status.These days I  can see tiny cute birds,cuckoos and a strange grey colured bird with white dots all over the  body,eating the fruits of curry leaves.They unfold  a fascinating and beautful world,specially for me.:)They motivate me a lot!There are numerous ways to be happy.Figure out what works for u!
I thought of writing about the little things that make us happy.
The soft,tender and loving words Amma tells me,

The little sweet 'good morning'messages,

The sincere 'hi' in chat boxes,

The 'miss you' notes I receive,

The strong  hand that I have to hold,
And the heart that understands me.
The simple moments that I spend with flowers,

The voice that reaches me full of love and hope,
The silence that is very strong,
Which helps in improving connections.

DREAMING FOR A DRUG-FREE WORLD!

             Good Evening!
Rainy days are here again!But then we get occasional sunlight,so life is cool!I thank everyone of you who offered me your friendship and I value your friendship as priceless!The kind and generous words inspire me a lot!As a blogger,when I have a platform to express my true feelings,share my thoughts and dreams,I strongly believe,I have a responsibility towards society.I dream of a society where there is unity, peace,happiness,harmony and health prevail hand in hand!The young generation can do a lot for developing a better nation.

 June 26th is celebrated as Anti-Drugs Day by UNO.It is the officicial UN international Day for Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime[UNODC]leads the imternational campaign which runs from 2007-2009,is to inspire people and mobilize support for drug control!In 1987,the UN General Assembly decided to observe 26th,June as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Iliicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.

I live in a society where drugs are easily available along with drinks.I know a survivor who is leading a family life abroad.But then he was given the right treatment at right time.As a counsellor I have taken interest in knowing the root causes for becoming victims to drugs.I have heard about marijuana,cocane and LSD.Parenting becomes challenging.Parents have great influence on their teens.They must take time to protect their teens from this dangerous addiction.We have only one life to live and let us don't mess it up.so,don't,''choose the booze''.

I may not be knowing you,my dear!But,I want to tell you,I DO CARE FOR YOU!you are in my thoughts and prayers!I have time to spend with you.You mean a lot to me.

Have you ever come across the frightening facts of the lives that have been shattered by using drugs?
The destructive effects of using drugs should be stressed in daily conversations.The people those who use drugs are more likely to engage in violent behaviour,stealing and join other gangs.Let us teach them to say,''I'm too good for drugs''.
The individual,family and society,
Are destroyed and spoiled forever!
The young generation use drugs in more numbers!
Self esteem is often low at this age,
Unaware of the health-risks involved,
Youngsters become the addicts!
Peer pressure may be a strong reason,
To experiment with illicit drugs!
lack of communication with parents and siblings,
The hectic life style of parents,
Lack of understanding the cause of sorrows,
The wrong selection of friends,
The computers to cellphones to i-podes,
The fast-paced culture and life style,
The stressful events and tiring situations,
Lack of awareness about the coping mechanisms
Are a few reasons to spoil a precious life!
There is no end to the long list.
Let us be careful right from now,
About the drugged,drunken state of teens,
A conversation over time is a good step,
Showing that parents do love and take care!

Take time to bridge the gap between teens and you!
Helping the teens to live a dignified life,
In a harmonious and happy society,
By mending the broken hearts,
With lots of love,care and concern!
Let us help them to forget the dark nights,
And help to see the light at the other end.
I request all of you,friends,
Say NO to drugs and drinks,
You are so dear to me and to your people!:)
Friends,
  We must make the youth aware of the dangerous consequences of using drugs.''You don't need heroin to be a hero''.Let us be the part of a movement that work for a drug free society.No more lives should be shattered.Spirituality and religion will help the addicts to recover their normal life.

Remembering Michael Jackson on his first death anniversary who was the king of pop,entertainer and the bundle of talents did a lot bringing awareness about the terrific consequences of using drugs.So many popular personalities have talked about the same repeatedly.The values of healthy drug free life style should be spread wide.seminars,walks,group talks ,talk shows on television channels will be held.Friends,do something to help the teens .

ARE YOU MY FRIEND?

Dear Friends,
           Good Evening!

It is raining since yesterday.Heavy downpours.It is nice enjoying the rain sitting in the sit out!I was so happy today morning to receive beautiful mails from my friends.One young client wrote me how much he misses me.His mail reminded me  of my childhood;splashing water, we walked to school and college.As we lived in nalukettu,we had huge courtyard.Making paper boats and watching them sailing in the water was favourite passtime.Everyone appeared to be a friend then.My life was full of colours and that too bright colours.Sorrows were far away!The world appeared to be fair.There was laughter and merrymaking. I remember my   friends,fathima,girija,ashalatha,annie,geetha,daisy,kumari so well.I studied in Little Flower Convent Girls' High School.I still can have the smell of athar[perfume] from fathima!:)She used to wear thattam.[veil]I was always the group leader.We used to have lot of fun during lunch break.I was lucky to get enough recognition.Words always came from the heart.We loved life and that was very important.We had beautiful dreams!There was peace,joy,love and happiness.We worked and played together.

Looking behind,I realise,childhood ,the carefree and beautiful time was the best phase of life!
I have done many posts on friendship before;But today when I received touching mails,miss me note,loving morning mail,I feel like expressing my gratitude to all my friends who have brightened my life!
Yesterday one of my friends asked me what  my concept is about friendship?
I replied,
My friend is the one who understands me,trusts me,makes me feel he/she will be always there for me!I can count on him/her.I can share all my silly and serious thoughts,fears,hopes and dreams!He/she is the one who  surprises me by an unexpected call or a mail.:)To whom I can sing my heart and who builds in the spirit when I feel low!He/she is a good listener as it is difficult to tolerate me with my never ending talks.Someone who makes a difference to my thoughts,attitudes and life,but accepts me as I am!When problems upset me,I can wake him up even at midnight!I can feel his/her touch even in the blowing wind.He/she  always assures me that there is a tomorrow.With him,my stresses disappear and troubles fade away!Knowing that he is my true friend I can sit back and relax!:)

THE MUSICAL MOMENTS!

  Good Evening!
            Weather is clear these days with the exceptional rains.I was busy yesterday attending two parties,one in my neighbour's house on the occasion of fixing their son's marriage and the other one a real grand dinner, in connection with the marriage reception of the son of a  leading doctor of the city!The couple looked as if made for each other and their marriage was a dream bloomed !They knew each other right from 9th std but later they had to part thier ways!But you all know certain sparks lighted in our hearts get brighter along with time.So,distance and time did not matter and they were always steady!''Out of sight need not be out of mind''.:)Now both of them are doctors and they have united forever!One could see love in their eyes and feel the nusic in their hearts!When love is in the air.even you can feel music even in silence!

Right from childhood we are taught the shlokas of Bhgavat Geeta  and devotional songs.Amma had taken music as special subject for B.T course!

Chembai Sangeetostavam is held every year in Guruvayoor Temple and famous musicians offer bhajans!In that musical ambience I grew up!

When does my heart sing?When do I feel music?

I can hear the soft soothing notes of music,
In my Amma's sweet and melodious voice,
When my Amma sings the lullabies and devotional songs,
In the tinkle of the temple bells,
In the golden rays of the morning sun,
That fill my mind with positive thoughts!
When the cool breeze kisses my cheeks,
And brushes away my hair strands,
In the passing clouds dropping a loving note for me;
Letting me know,someone misses me a lot!
When the sea changes its colour into brighter shades,
By the reflections of the lights from the ships!
When the raindrops fall on the roof tops,

Forming a wonderful rhythm,

In the rainbows that I see once a blue moon,

Leaving me so grateful to God!

When the peacock dances beautifully,

 Looking at the cloudy sky;

When the jasmine bud blooms at night,

When the sweet innocent baby smiles,

When I listen to the loving and caring voice,

That reassures me life is still beautiful.

Music unites  people irrespective of caste creed,race and languages.All of us must have music in our hearts even if we don't sing in public.But I started singing while anchoring a show or addressing a gathering!I just can't resist myself!It creates a personal bond between the speaker and the audience!Hope the herats will hit the right chords

THE DAYS WHICH SMELL CHANDANAM[SANDAL].................

Dear Friends,
Good Evening!                                                                                                                                                                    

It was  Muppettu Thursday-the first Thursday of Malayalam month,Mithunam!An auspicious day for Hindus and they don't miss having darshan of Lord Krishna!Now as I am in Thrissur with Amma,I could not go to Shree Krishna Temple,Guruvayoor and hence I went to Thiruvambadi Krishna Temple,Thrissur!There was so much rush as devotees make it a must have darshan of Kannan on this day!Balagopaln looks so cute ,divine,magnificient and enchanting!Garlands of tulsi leaves and thechi flowers adorned Krishna!As it was  Shashti,milk abhhishekam was offered continuously to Lord Murukan!I pluck karpoora thuslsi and Krishna tulsi leaves daily from the garden for daily pooja.The whole atmosphere was so sacred and refreshing! The ambience was really soothing to mind and body!

After a long time, I saw white lotus on  Lord Ganesh and Lord Hanuman!There was red lotus too!We were given prasadam on plantain leaf!The fragrance of sandalwood  paste,kumkum and turmeric  with lots of flowers from the Lotus Feet of Kannan still remains with me!I love applying chandanam [sandalwood paste] on my forehead in between eyebrows !That is the spot!

I felt so happy when I  saw the temple elephant!I was in a real jovial mood and started asking the elphant,''What is your name?''That was a loud question and the man walking infront of me turned back and gave me  a surprised look; He might have  wondered a lady had guts to ask his name in public!:) I felt so embarassed.The elephant was swaying her trunk to and fro.I wanted to know the name and asked the mayhout.He told,''Lakshmi''!I called her,''Lakshmiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii' '' so sweetly and she was moving her huge ears as if she were listening to me!I  was smiling at her.Whenever I see elephants,I feel like talking to them!:)I love elephants and my village house is near Punnathur Kotta,the elephant resort of sixtyfive elephants!:)Have you ever seen so many elephants together?If not next time when you plan your religious trip to Gurupavanapuri,please do visit Punnathur Kotta too!Before it became the famous elephant resort,me and Nanda used to go to college walking through this palace ground!And there,someone used to wait for me in the evenings while coming back from my college!:)Without exchanging a single word,the college days evenings were colourful due to the waitings!Hey but it is natural ,nah?:)A smile used to bloom only in my heart![A village girl from an aristocratic family was [is] supposed to behave properly!]:)So no guys,no second looks that give you sleepless nights!Pretend normal!

The problem is the Alice in me awakes anytime and I land up in wonderland.I forget the surroundings and people.Whenever I go to city,the huge colourful flex boards and the smart cheerful players seek my undivided attention.Then I start chatting with them;''Nothing to worry,you will make it! Golden goal will be yours!''u will win the cup! But the problem is I tell the same thing to all of them.:)And I share Maradona's stress.He has a powerful rosary in his hand..Sincere prayers will be heard with hard work.So,let us wait and watch!But then all are praying honestly and are playing so well.Argentina played so well and Messi,you are the real star!You made all the great passes that led to the goals!

We had rains and sunshine today! Yesterday I had been to an organisation and was happy to see the staff in light green saree and blouse.They reminded me of my college days.We had three types of uniform in Little Flower College.On Mondays we wore white saree and blue blouse,on Tuesdays and W ednesdays,light green saree and dark green blouse. On Thursdays and Fridays we wore light pink saree and meroon blouse.

The girls who wear blue long skirt and white blouse  go walking to school daily.they are from St.Ann's School.We also had the same uniform in school.

I had been to Thenjithukavu Devi Temple,Ayyanthole on Tuesday!It was my first visit to this temple.The Goddess is in the form of Bhadrakali holding thrishul!Dozens of bangles were tied to strings and offered to Devi!It is  an offering seeking blessings to get married!The colourful glass bangles were looking so beautiful!The small cradles were also hung;that could be for the blessing of a baby!There are no upadevathas and so we can pray fast.Bhagaval Seva was going on and I could attend that.That was at night after deeparadhana.Whenever I reach a new temple I clear my doubts with the poojaris[priests] or old devotees with whom I feel comfortable.I interact and collect the information!The temple employees also help me in getting information!This temple has very peaceful and silent atmosphere!We can pray standing very close to the Deity!

Friends,my days and twilights smell chandanam and they give me the cool and refreshing feelings!:)Simply wonderful and amazing!A divine soothing positive energy flows....................hope and pray they reach you too!:)As and when possible never miss an opportunity to visit a temple and have the divine darshan of God/Goddess!As Nanda tells me,''this is a golden opportunity!''This is the way she makes me wake up early in the morning!:)I really miss my morning visits to temples!

                           And today being Muppettu Saturday I was at Kottappuram Shiva Temple.We offer Neeranjana vilakku and tildeepam to Lord Ayyappa!Keeping tildeepam in the two halves of broken coconut!There were many devotees!The main Prathishta is that of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesh,Lord Ayyappa  and Nagaraja  are upadevatas.Ghee and oil are offered to Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesh.
I was wearing mundum vesthi,the traditional two piece wear to the temples.:)

Ceratin moments live forever in our soul!The moments I spend in different temples top the list!:)

Puzhakkal fields are full of water!The canal around the fileds is filled now with water and is ready for the tourists to have a boat ride!It's an amazing sight!

Btween,I am strongly recommended Ravan,the new release by ManiRatnam,the popular Tamil director as Rains have been so beautifully picturised in the movie!The location of Athirappally waterfalls,Kerala is stunning!I believe Tamil version is much better than Hindi;But you can't come all the way to Thrissur to accompany me to be with Ravan,nah?:(

Dear Frineds,

Good Morning!

Since five days,it's pouring in Thrissur!It's too cold and once again the heaters and blankets are very much needed!Plucking the flowers from the wet plants,cool waterdroplets falling on the face and the refreshed looks of the greenery!Beautiful morning!Today I got an orange a nd red rose!:)We use the flowers,thulsi leaves and bilwa leaves for pooja.

New Malayalam month begins today-Mithunam.This is a special month;Nanda's birthday falls in this month.[And my friend too shares his birthday, having the same star]!Since Nanda is on holidays in the beautiful city by the river Hudson,I don't go to temples in the morning.I miss my temple darshan along with Nanda.The mornings after the temple visits fill in a lot of positive energy.We feel so refreshed and recharged to face the day!

The football fever has spread and yesterday I saw two huge flex bords supporting Argentina and Brazil in the junction at Kottappuram.:)On the way back from City Centre I saw many flexboards and and got excited.I could not resist myself discussing the match with the driver.:)Oh!My God!He was shocked!''Do you watch the game''?

 We had sunshine today for some hours!I really felt nice to get some sunshine!:)Other than Football match and matches people hardly have time to discuss anythingelse!
